Easy Pumpkin Spice Syrup

I was late to join the pumpkin spice bandwagon but finally last year, I tried it and of course became obsessed. It’s that time of year again where Pumpkin Spice is everywhere and unlike past years, this year I am embracing it with open arms!

I love take out lattes from my local coffee shop but I also love making my own lattes at home. There is nothing like sitting at home, cozy while sipping a pumpkin spiced latte. After making this recipe I realized why it’s so delicious, there is quite a bit of sugar in it. :D But hey, it’s only a seasonal treat so who cares!

This recipe is insanely easy, with easy to acquire ingredients, it’s delicious and has a decent fridge life. Mine lasted two weeks before I used it all but you can definitely keep it longer if you refrigerate it.

What you’ll need:

  • Cheesecloth or a mesh strainer

  • Saucepan

  • Whisk

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of water

  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar

  • 2 tbsp of pumpkin purée

  • 4 sticks of cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp Cloves

  • 1/2 tsp Ginger

Instructions:

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat add water and sugar.

  • Bring to a boil.

  • Lower the heat and let simmer until all of the sugar is dissolved.

  • Add in pumpkin purée and spices.

  • Let simmer on med/low heat for 7-8 minutes. DO NO BRING TO A BOIL.

  • Remove from heat.

  • Pour syrup through the mesh strainer or cheesecloth.

  • Allow syrup to completely cool.

  • Store in airtight container in fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Enjoy!
