Styling My New Dining Room

Moving to a new city is a great excuse to get my apartment style together. Up until now my space has been a mix match of furniture I've acquired throughout the years and it's time to make my house a home. To be honest, I don't really have a particular home style, I like everything, pulling from many different eras. I suppose it's similar to my fashion style, which isn't identifiable with only one word or adjective. I guess if I had to narrow it down, I would say that I like the mid century modern look but I also love bohemian and monochrome styles too. My new place is COVERED in carpet, which is not ideal for me. I am NOT a carpet fan. It's hard to keep clean (I have a dog) and I do not love the look. But, it's not the end of the world, I am not changing it anytime soon (it's brand new) so I might as well just accept it! If you are a designer or have an eye for design and know what I can do about the carpet dilemma, PLEASE for the love of god, let me know!

Here is a pic of the space the day we moved in.

Here is the space now.

All of the prints are from local artists/designers. Snapture This, The Neighbourhood Unit and Gooseberry Studios are currently adorning the walls. I went with majority of cactus', succulents and aloes because I cannot seem to keep other plants alive. I would however like to add a big tree and some more prints but I'm going to wait for the right ones, pieces that speak to me.

It's still a work in progress and I have a few more elements to add but this has already been such a fun project for me. I would love to hear any ideas you guys have for the space or where you pull your house inspiration from.

I also plan to redo my living room area, get a new couch and spruce up the space with some art, so stay tuned!
