My Love Affair With Toronto

For a girl like me growing up in a small rural Ontario town, I always dreamed of moving to "the big city", aka Toronto and scoring a dream job in the heart of the action. It's a bit tricky to say exactly why I was drawn to Toronto or what exactly I love about it. Maybe it's the combination of sophistication, culture and endless choices that the city possesses? Maybe it's because Toronto became the backdrop of my adult life?

I moved here in my early 20's and after 10 years of living in different parts of the city, I know it like the back of my hand. The skyscrapers and CN Tower made the perfect backdrop to my glory years, my 20's. Weirdly, I always felt like the CN Tower was looking over me, protecting me. It's strange but I think most Torontonians can relate, we all have a slight obsession with it. I was mostly a west end girl but started my adventure in Toronto in the quirky Kensington Market. This is where my love of vintage took off and when I became vegetarian.

Toronto has been the best companion to explore who I am as a person and what I want in life. It has opened doors to places I didn't even know I wanted to go and introduced me to people that I consider family. After 10 years in the city, I am sad to say I am leaving to pursue a new adventure, in wine country. BUT, don't let that fool you, my love affair with Toronto will continue. I will take weekend rendezvous' into the city, where once again the CN Tower will adorn me with her luminous shine and be the perfect backdrop for future memories.
